The War On Iran & The End Of An Era
International Peace Coalition; May 7, 2026: Amid all the uncertainties about how the conflict between the US and Iran will develop, one thing seems certain: the Unipolar World dominated by the Anglo-American alliance is over. This unprovoked war of aggression against Iran, pushed by a crazed Israeli Regime, may well turn out to be the greatest strategic disaster of the US in recent decades, and there have been many of them.
None of the objectives the Trump Administration set out, be they military or political, have been reached. However, the credibility and the trustworthiness of the US and the Epstein class (which rules it) have been irreparably smashed in the eyes of the world. Beyond the destruction of human life and the hardship in the Middle East, the negative repercussions on the physical economy and the productive process worldwide are already enormous, and will continue to grow over the coming months.

Tehran has rejected the proposal submitted last week by Washington DC and formulated its own 14-point counter-proposal which was, in turn, termed unacceptable by the Trump Administration. Although President Donald John Trump told the US Congress on May 1, 2026 that the hostilities with Iran “have terminated”, he said so to apparently avoid requesting Congressional approval for military operations beyond the initial 60-day period.
On the ground, the situation continues to escalate in the Strait of Hormuz. On May 4, the Trump Administration began Project Freedom, under which the US Navy is supposed to control transit through the Strait of Hormuz, providing guidance for ships to pass, and opposing with force any Iranian counter-measures. Less than 48 hours later, the US President paused the operation, but maintained the blockade outside the Strait. It may be noted that safe passage could also be ensured by the UN, under a navigation corridor scheme that was worked out by a multi-agency task force commissioned in mid-March, including the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). However, Trump, of course, has no respect for the UN or for international law.

Nonetheless, talks are taking place discreetly between Americans and Iranians through third parties, such as Pakistan and Russia. Beijing is also supporting Iran and received Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on May 6. It is certainly an important topic that would be taken up by President Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping when they hold summit meetings in Beijing on May 14-15, 2026.
As for Russian President Vladimr Putin, he took the initiative of calling his US counterpart on April 29, just after meeting with Araghchi in Saint Petersburg. (Of note is that the head of Russian military intelligence also attended that meeting)

According to Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, President Putin approved Trump’s decision to extend the ceasefire with Iran, and also offered Russia’s good offices for resolving the issue of Iran’s nuclear programme, likely repeating Moscow’s proposal to take custody of Iran’s enriched uranium. The Russian President further underscored “the inevitable, extremely dire consequences not only for Iran and its neighbours, but for the entire international community, if the US and Israel resort to force again. And, of course, a ground operation on Iranian territory seems completely unacceptable and dangerous”.
It, in diplomatic terms, is a quite stern warning.
