Israel-Iran Conflict & The Changing Political Dynamics

Finally, Israel launched terrible airstrikes, code-named Operation Rising Lion, on the Iranian nuclear facilities on June 13, 2025 night. Defence analysts believe that the scale of attacks would gradually increase as the Islamic Republic hit the Jewish Nation with retaliatory strikes on June 13-14 after three most powerful men – highest-ranking military officer Major General Hossein Salami, Head of its elite Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Mohammad Bagheri and former National Security Chief Ali Shamkhani – were killed during the Operation Rising Lion. Reports suggest that the Iranian missiles targeted sites across Israel, killing at least three people and injuring dozens, in retaliation for ongoing Israeli attacks on Iran. Earlier, Tehran claimed that the Israeli airstrikes killed at least 78 people, including women and children, and also injured more than 320.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed that the Israeli forces attacked the Natanz Nuclear Facility of Iran on June 13. However, there is no report of any radiation or nuclear fallout yet. The Islamic Republic has not had to deal with such a major blow since the Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s. Hence, it does not seem that the conflict would be resolved soon.

The contemporary world is in distress. While Israel constantly launches attacks on Palestine, Russia and Ukraine are yet to reach a peace deal, and India and Pakistan have just managed to avert a war. However, the horrors of the Iran-Israel War may outweigh all other conflicts currently going on in different parts of the globe. Hence, the UN and other major global powers should somehow deter both Tehran and Tel Aviv, especially Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin ‘Bibi’ Netanyahu, from escalating the conflict. As the US was well aware of Israel’s move in advance, it can be assumed that there is no way left to restrain Tel Aviv.

According to Israeli intelligence sources, the Iranian nuclear programme has crossed the red line to reach the Point of No Return, in spite of numerous international obstacles. Defence analysts, too, have long claimed that Iran’s nuclear programme is a dangerous one for Israel. There were military confrontations between the two sides over Iran’s nuclear and missile programmes in 2024. Analysts are of the opinion that the return of Donald John Trump to the White House has certainly encouraged Prime Minister Netanyahu to take military actions against Tehran.

It may be noted that Washington DC abandoned the 2015 US-Iran nuclear deal and imposed harsh sanctions on the Islamic Republic during the first term of Trump as the US President. Although Trump hinted that he would start negotiating with Iran immediately after becoming the president for the second time, the issue has escalated into direct conflict because of excessive delays. The US would have to take responsibility for the current development, as Prime Minister Netanyahu has publicly thanked President Trump for putting Iran under tremendous diplomatic pressure over its nuclear programme in recent times. The entire incident shows that there is no ‘balancing mechanism‘ in the world order right now.

Statements (related to the Operation Rising Lion) issued by the Israeli Prime Minister remind the global community of Adolf Hitler who used to claim that he attacked the neighbouring countries as they were posing a serious threat to Germany. Reports suggest that Netanyahu took shelter in a safe place soon after Israel launched the Operation Rising Lion on June 13 night. The Führer, like Netanyahu, used to live in a safe bunker during the Second World War. The appeasement policy of the Western World (especially the US) towards Israel also reminds one of the West’s appeasement policy towards Nazi Germany in the 1930s. The Western Powers remained silent when Hitler conquered various countries, ignoring international rules and regulations, principles, norms, etc. The inevitable outcome of this was the Second World War. Later, Sir Winston Churchill regretted this policy.

The US policy has helped Israel to gradually become Nazi Germany in the 21st Century. The Zionist Regime has started ignoring International Laws and rules with the US support. In fact, the Trump Administration backs the Israeli genocide in Gaza, prompting the Palestinian Hamas Movement to become more desperate. As Iran enjoys strong trade ties with Russia and China, Tehran has retaliated. If China and Russia get involved in the Iran-Israel conflict, then the Third World War would become inevitable. Israel has already turned into a puppet state (of the US in West Asia). It is difficult to predict whether the Zionist Regime could survive joint attacks by Iran, Russia and China.

Perhaps Israel has forgotten the fact that it did not exist before the Second World War. The Western World made an arrangement for the Jews to settle in the Palestinian land. Later, the US encouraged the Jewish State to illegally occupy the Palestinian territories and to eliminate the Palestinians in a brutal manner. Now, Tel Aviv has declared that Iran, and not Hamas, is the real enemy of Israel! Such a declaration shows that Israel has a bigger plan for the Arab World.
