A Startling Revelation!

What did I do to you?‘ – those were precisely the last words of former Libyan leader Muammar Mohammed Abu Minyar al-Gaddafi (June 7, 1942 – October 20, 2011), as he reportedly begged for mercy, before he was captured and brutally killed by the National Transitional Council forces during the Battle of Sirte, eight years ago!
On that eventful day, the Global Community thought that Colonel Gaddafi made a last attempt to prove his innocence while facing the hard reality. Now, people understand why he had stated so to his countrymen, as some declassified emails have revealed that NATO had him killed in order to stop a supposed Libyan creation of gold-backed currency! According to those emails, France – which wanted to maintain its financial stranglehold on the African countries – got the Libyan ruler eliminated, with the help of the intergovernmental military alliance between 29 North American and European countries.

The US State Department recently released some of 3,000 emails, sent to the then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by her (unofficial) Adviser Sidney Blumenthal in April 2011 with the subject line ‘France’s Client and Qaddafi’s Gold’, partially revealing the Western intention to assassinate Gaddafi. Some emails are also seen containing clear evidence of the Western Nations using NATO as a tool to overthrow the Gaddafi regime not for the protection of the Libyan people, but for preventing the ruler from creating a gold-backed African currency in an attempt to compete with the Western Central Banking monopoly!
As per those emails, the French-led NATO military initiative in Libya was aimed at gaining access to a greater share of Libyan Oil Production… for that, it was necessary to foil Gaddafi’s long-term plan to supplant France as the dominant power in the Francophone Africa region. Some Foreign Policy Journals, too, reported that then French President Nicholas Sarkozy had five specific plans: to obtain Libyan oil, to ensure French influence in the region, to increase his reputation domestically, to assert French military power, and to prevent Gaddafi’s influence in Africa

Colonel Gaddafi had huge reserves of gold and silver, precisely 143 tonnes of gold and similar amount of silver (valued at more than USD 7 billion), posed to the French franc (CFA) circulating as a prime African currency. So, the French attack on Libya was a calculated move in order to consolidate greater power, by using NATO as a tool for Paris’ imperialist conquest. It was not a humanitarian intervention as claimed by France, and believed by the Global Community. In that email, it is clearly mentioned that the gold was accumulated before the rebellion and Gaddafi planned to use that to establish a pan-African currency based on the Libyan golden Dinar. The plan was adopted to provide the Francophone African countries with an alternative to the French franc (CFA).

As the French intelligence officers came to know about this plan shortly after the rebellion began, Paris used the Civil War to launch attacks on Libya and to get rid of Gaddafi. So, the main aim of Western backed Libyan military intervention was not to save human lives, but to stop Gaddafi from creating a high degree of economic independence with a new pan-African currency, thus, reducing the French influence and power in the region, in future!
These declassified emails have once again proved that imperialism still exists, albeit in a different form (neoimperialism)!
