Iran Issues Nuclear Attack Survival Guide
Tensions between Iran and the US have escalated yet again. In such a situation, the Islamic Republic has issued a warning to its citizens by releasing a video. Reports suggest that the eight-minute video explains how to survive a nuclear explosion and where to take shelter. The video is also available on the website of IRNA, the state news agency of the West Asian nation.
IRNA released the video – produced by the Isfahan Emergency Services Department – on October 29, 2026. Incidentally, the Natanz nuclear facility is located in Isfahan. Iran has remained on high alert since US President Donald John Trump explicitly named the fortified Pickaxe Mountain nuclear site as a potential target on October 16, 2026.
Against this backdrop, Tehran released the video to warn citizens and provide guidance on how to protect themselves from radiation. The guidelines clearly state that air conditioning and ventilation systems – which draw in outside air – should be shut off in the event of an explosion. People have been advised to avoid going near windows and to take shelter in a bunker instead. The guidelines also explain what to do if someone happens to be out in the open when an explosion occurs. People have been advised to remain in a bunker for 24 hours following an explosion and to consume packaged food and water. However, taking shelter inside any vehicle is discouraged.
There has been speculation that President Trump might launch a major military operation against Iran once the US Midterm Elections conclude on November 3, 2026. On November 2, sounds of frequent explosions were heard in the Iranian cities of Qeshm and Bandar-e Lengeh, located near the Strait of Hormuz. Residents of the port city of Qeshm have claimed that they saw a US aircraft circling overhead. Although the Pentagon has not yet officially commented on this attack, the Wall Street Journal has confirmed that the US carried out an attack on Iran on November 2.
The US has been carrying out calibrated attacks against Iran throughout the first week of November 2026. Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has claimed that its Air Force shot down three US drones near the Strait of Hormuz a couple of days ago. Immediately thereafter, Tehran released the video message for its citizens.
