Trump’s ‘Board Of Peace’ Holds Secret Talks
US President Donald John Trump established the Board of Peace (BoP or the Peace Board) on January 22, 2026 for overseeing the processes of the Gaza peace plan, apart from promoting peacekeeping around the world. The Financial Times has reported that representatives of the Board recently held secret talks with DP World, the state-owned Dubai multinational, about managing supply chains and infrastructure projects in Gaza.
Reports suggest that pledges of financial assistance totalling over USD 5 billion for reconstruction and humanitarian efforts in the Gaza Strip have already been received from the member states of the Board of Peace. According to the Financial Times, the Dubai-based logistics giant is all set to secure major contracts from the Board.
The Financial Times has further reported that global institutions have projected rehabilitation of Gaza, where two years of Israeli bombardment have destroyed four-fifths of buildings, to cost around USD 70 billion. Citing three people familiar with the matter, the US daily claimed that the talks centred on prospects for a partnership between DP World and the Board of Peace to run logistics. These efforts would cover humanitarian aid and other goods entering Gaza, including warehousing, tracking systems and security.
The secret meeting also discussed other ideas, including the construction of a new port in either Gaza or on the nearby Egyptian coast by the UAE-based company and developing a free-trade zone in the war-torn strip. However, neither DP World nor the White House made any comments on this issue.
Sources close to the BoP have claimed that the primary objective of the meeting was to determine how to manage infrastructure development, as well as the delivery of relief materials and other goods, in Gaza. However, the entire process rendered the Palestinian cause sidelined.
Gaza has effectively been reduced to rubble amidst the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas Movement. In such a scenario, the US President formally launched the Board of Peace on January 22 for the reconstruction of Gaza. On February 4, 2025, he proposed that the US take long-term control of the Gaza Strip to redevelop it into a Riviera of the Middle East.

Soon after President Trump made the announcement, political experts claimed that the US became active in expanding its business interests in West Asia under the guise of the peace process. The secret meeting has fuelled the speculation, yet again.
