Ken McCallum, the Director General of MI5, recently claimed that Britain experienced a staggering rise in attempts at assassination, sabotage and other crimes on its soil because of Russia and Iran, saying that the two countries recruited criminals to “do their dirty work”!

On October 8, 2024, the Chief of the UK’s domestic counter-intelligence and security agency said that M15 agents and the British Police foiled at least 20 “potentially lethal” plots backed by Iran in the last couple of years. He predicted that Russia and Iran could expand their targets in the UK, if the geopolitical situation deteriorated in West Asia! Delivering a rare public speech, McCallum stated that the risk “of an increase in, or broadening of, Iranian State aggression in the UK” would increase, if Israel would retaliate against Iran’s recent missile barrage on the Jewish Nation.

McCallum described Russia and Iran as hostile states, mentioning that they were backing militant outfits, radicalised individuals and a revived Islamic State group in an attempt to create “the most complex and interconnected threat environment we have ever seen”. According to the British intelligence chief, Iran, which backs the three H (Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis), is the main troublemaker in West Asia. He believes that the Islamic Republic could launch attacks in the UK with the help of these terrorist outfits!

McCallum further claimed that there was a 48% increase in the number of crimes in the past year in the UK. He categorically said that since the death of Mahsa Amini who had died in Iranian Police custody in September 2022 after being detained for allegedly violating the mandatory Headscarf Law of Iran, “we have seen plot after plot here in the UK at an unprecedented pace and scale”!

The M15 boss also blasted the Russian military intelligence agency for trying to use “arson, sabotage and more” in order to create “mayhem” on the streets of Britain. At the same time, he warned Iran and China not to create trouble for Britain by backing terrorists.

As expected, Tehran and the Kremlin have rejected McCallum’s allegations, saying that London is trying to divert the attention of the global community from the Israeli atrocities in West Asia. The two countries have also criticised other Western Powers for encouraging the Zionist Regime to carry out genocide in Gaza, West Bank, Lebanon and Syria.

It may be noted that Germany, too, has started suppressing those who express solidarity with Palestine. Berlin has made it clear that anyone who will post or share the slogan ‘From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free’ on social media shall be denied German citizenship! Even those who’d like or comment on social media posts with this slogan shall lose their German citizenship!
