In Pics: US Attacks Iran Again
The US Central Command announced the news of airstrikes on Iran in a social media post on July 8, 2026. In a statement on X, the Central Command said that US forces launched attacks against Iran in the Strait of Hormuz on the orders of President Donald John Trump. US forces also said that the latest attacks against the Islamic Republic were aimed at “their ability to threaten the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz”, citing recent strikes against commercial ships in the waterway.
Meanwhile, the two countries traded strikes on July 9, 2026 for the second day running as Washington DC and Tehran battled over the strategic Strait. Iran’s official news agency IRNA has reported that the strikes killed three people and wounded several others.
