Israeli Mothers Take To Streets
US President Donald John Trump recently claimed that he convinced both Israel and Iran to agree to a ceasefire in order to end their 12-day war that began on June 13, 2025. Now, the common people of Israel, especially mothers of the Israeli soldiers, have started demanding a similar ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Thousands of Israelis took to the streets of Tel Aviv on June 27, 2025 as the protest march commenced at Rabin Square. The march was part of a larger demonstration against the Israeli Government, specifically calling for an end to the ongoing Israel-Hamas War and for the resignation of the government. Reports suggest that the protests also included a rally at Rabin Square before the march began.
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) issued a statement, mentioning that seven Israeli soldiers were killed in a Hamas attack in Khan Yunis on June 25. Since then, the mothers of the soldiers have been staging protests mainly because of anxiety. They have also called for an immediate end to the war. Labour leader Efrat Raiten, whose son is serving in Gaza as a member of the Israeli Army, urged the Benjamin Netanyahu Administration to resolve all the outstanding issues with Palestine through diplomatic negotiations.
Michal Hadas Rubin from the Awakened Mothers group took part in the protests outside the President’s Residence in Jerusalem. She requested the government to act with responsibility toward “our children who are serving”. Rubin, whose son is a reservist and daughter is enlisted, told the Times of Israel: “They (the Government) are making decisions for the survival of the coalition. There are more injured soldiers, soldiers who have been killed, but the coalition is surviving. The leadership should only act and do what is good for the country.” As the protesters called for fresh elections, Rubin stressed: “Let’s choose to act before it’s too late.”

Meanwhile, a leading Hebrew-language Israeli broadsheet has claimed that Prime Minister Netanyahu has agreed to declare a ceasefire in Gaza within the next couple of weeks. As per the report, the Israeli PM discussed the issue with President Trump over phone.
The daily further reported that Tel Aviv would send top Hamas leaders into exile after the release of all Israeli citizens held by the Palestinian Movement. In that case, the responsibility of administering the Palestinian territories would fall to four Arab nations. However, the mediators have claimed that the long talks between the two sides in Cairo failed to reach a solution. The Netanyahu Government, too, dismissed the report published by the daily.
