Ceasefire Crumbling As Iran, US Flex Muscles
Iran has launched fresh attacks across West Asia as its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have targeted at least 21 US bases scattered across various countries in the region. Reports suggest that sirens are constantly sounding in Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait. Concerned authorities in those countries have acknowledged the attacks, stating that their defence systems intercepted a number of Iranian drones and missiles.
The Iraqi media have reported that more than 16 explosive blasts were heard in Bahrain alone as Iran launched retaliatory attacks, targeting US military bases in Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait. The IRGC have confirmed that the Iranian aerospace forces launched a long-range solid-fuel missile targeting a US base in Jordan to destroy a hangar for US F-35 fighter jets and a command-and-control centre. According to the IRGC, it is one of the largest retaliatory attacks ever launched against a US base. Since June 9, 2026 night, the Islamic Republic has targeted at least 21 US bases across West Asia.
Kuwait has claimed that it successfully destroyed most of the Iranian missiles in mid-air, while the Interior Ministry of Bahrain has urged citizens to remain calm. The Jordanian Armed Forces have stated that five missiles launched from Iran towards the Al-Azraq area were shot down on June 10, with no injuries or material damage resulting from the debris. The incident followed US airstrikes on Iranian positions after the downing of an Apache helicopter of the US Army near the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier, the US accused Iran of shooting down the Apache helicopter on June 9 without any provocations, stressing that it carried out a series of strikes on Iranian military and surveillance sites in response to the downing of the helicopter. While the US forces carried out strikes against Iran’s military capabilities, including several air defence systems located near the Strait of Hormuz; the Islamic Republic launched a drone attack on the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.

According to an al Jazeera report, explosions have been heard in Bandar Abbas and the southern Iranian port city of Jask. However, both sides lack clarity on the scope of these serial attacks. An explosion has also been reported in the vicinity of Qeshm Island in southern Iran. Meanwhile, US Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that it carried out a series of attacks in southern part of the West Asian nation, specifically impacting areas, like Sirik, Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island and Jask, as a part of retaliatory self-defence strikes.
Fresh tensions have flared up in Lebanon, as well, with Hezbollah launching multiple drone, missile and rocket attacks targeting the Israeli forces, armoured vehicles and command posts across the southern part of the country. The Iran-backed armed group has targeted Israeli military positions in the towns of Rashaf, Al-Qawzah (or Qouzah) and Al-Qantara.

Political analysts are of the opinion that as the conflict reaches its 100th day, efforts to reach an agreement enter a decisive phase. Unfortunately, the latest retaliatory attacks by the US, Israel and Iran have pushed their fragile ceasefire to the brink of collapse.
