Mossad Accused Of Spying On Top US Officials

The Pentagon has expressed serious concern over increased Israeli espionage activities within the US Administration, amid US-Israeli war with Iran and ceasefire talks. According to NBC News, US intelligence officials have warned that the Israeli intelligence agency is conducting surveillance on top American officials. As expected, such a revelation has caused a stir within the Trump Administration.

The Pentagon’s Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) has claimed that Mossad is continuously monitoring the movements of several top US officials. The DIA has clearly mentioned in its report that Israel is using advanced surveillance technology, rather than just relying on human assets, to gain insight into the Trump Administration‘s internal deliberations on West Asia conflicts and also about ending the Iran War. Hence, the agency has elevated Israel’s threat designation to critical. It may be noted that the DIA report includes a seven-page document identifying specific incidents that heightened US concerns.

The New York Times, too, has reported that the Jewish Nation, which has been known to spy on the US, increased its espionage activities in late 2024 after the Administration of former US President Joe Biden increased pressure on Israel over its genocidal war in Gaza. That increase continued into 2025, as Donald John Trump returned to the Presidency and began deliberating about how to approach Iran. Recent US intelligence assessments have documented evidence that there are Israeli efforts to monitor President Trump’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, senior Pentagon official Elbridge Colby and his deputy Michael DiMino IV.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Embassy in Washington DC has dismissed as “completely false” reports that the Pentagon raised its counterintelligence threat level against Israel to critical. According to a senior Embassy official, Israel never seeks inside information from the US Administration, nor has it ever attempted to do so. Instead, the two nations have cooperated significantly during recent regional escalations, he stated.

The White House, too, has vehemently refuted media reports claiming that Israel is spying on top US officials, with a senior Trump Administration official dismissing the allegations as “false” and sourced to individuals lacking proper knowledge of ongoing events. Although the Pentagon has declined to comment, Emily Harding, the Vice President of the Defence and Security Department at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies, has described Israel as having a “hyper-aggressive intelligence service“, saying: “They are exceedingly interested in what we are up to.

Interestingly, the Pentagon has raised its counterintelligence threat assessment for Israel to the highest possible level a week after President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin ‘Bibi’ Netanyahu clashed on the war with Iran and Israeli military operations in Lebanon. Some Pentagon officials believe that Israel is keenly interested in whether the US President decides to resume major combat operations against Iran or pursue a negotiated end to the conflict.

Current and former Pentagon officials, as well as outside experts, are of the opinion that US representatives may exercise extra caution while visiting Israel in the coming days.
