Mojtaba Being Treated In Moscow, Larijani Killed

Amid mounting speculations over the whereabouts of Ayatollah Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, a latest report has claimed that the new Supreme Leader of Iran is in medical care in Moscow. The report, published by Kuwaiti daily Al-Jarida, suggests that the 56-year-old is recovering after undergoing a successful surgery in a private medical facility linked to a residence of Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. Mojtaba was reportedly flown to Moscow for medical treatment after being injured during joint airstrikes by the US and Israel.

Earlier, Tel Aviv claimed that Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei (April 19, 1939 – February 28, 2026), his son Mojtaba and some members of their family were killed during a series of large-scale US-Israeli missile strikes against various targets in Iran on February 28, 2026. Later, The Telegraph reported that although Ali Khamenei and some top Iranian military officials perished, Mojtaba survived the attack by sheer luck.

The report published by the British daily prompted the US Department of State to offer up to USD 10 million for information on 10 senior Iranian officials, including Mojtaba Khamenei and Ali Asghar Hejazi, the Deputy Chief of Staff and Supreme Leader Officer, on March 13, 2026. Asked about Mojtaba’s whereabouts, US President Donald John Trump recently told NBC News: “I don’t know if he’s even alive. So far, nobody’s been able to show him.

The Telegraph further reported that Israel and the US bombed the Supreme Leader’s Office at around 9:32am (local time) on February 28, 2026. Mojtaba had left the office just before the attack, although he was still in the compound. Hence, he received a leg injury. Meanwhile, Al-Jarida revealed that the younger Khamenei was wounded on the left side of his body, from head to foot, after debris fell near him, but not directly on him, during coordinated strikes. Later, Mojtaba reportedly claimed that the attack was so powerful that the Army Chief was reduced to a mass of flesh.

Now, Al-Jarida has claimed that Mojtaba was secretly flown to Moscow on a Russian military aircraft on March 12, 2026. The broadsheet also mentioned that he underwent a successful surgery for severe leg injuries sustained during the first wave of US-Israeli strikes. Citing a “high-ranking source close to the Supreme Leader”, the Kuwaiti daily reported that President Putin had personally offered medical assistance during a call with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian.

Interestingly, the report published by Al-Jarida aligns with previous source-based reports from various publications, suggesting Mojataba Khamenei suffered serious injury to his leg. However, there has been no official confirmation from the concerned authorities as Tehran continues to insist that “there is no problem with the new Supreme Leader”. However, the Iranian State Television referred to Mojtaba as Jaanbaz of Ramadan or a wounded veteran of the Ramadan War, admitting that he received injuries.

As expected, Russia has not commented on Mojtaba’s medical treatment. When questioned by TASS news agency about the alleged secret evacuation and treatment of the new Supreme Leader in a Moscow hospital, senior Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Sergeyevich Peskov stated: “We never comment on such reports.Kazem Jalali, the Iranian Ambassador to Russia, too, denied the report that Mojtaba was receiving medical treatment in Moscow. “Today, the news about the transfer of the Supreme Leader of the Revolution to Russia for treatment is a new psychological war. Iranian leaders do not need to flee and hide in shelters; their place is on the streets among the people,” stressed the Iranian diplomat.

In a post on X, Jalali mentioned: “The habit of lying never leaves a liar’s mind, but an Iranian proverb says that a liar has a short memory and is forgetful… Before the day of American and Zionist aggression against Iran, on the morning of the most revered divine month, the news of Martyr Khamenei’s escape to Venezuela and Russia dominated the media coverage of the satanic movement.

According to defence analysts, the transfer of Mojtaba to the Russian hospital might have been part of a highly classified operation because of concerns over his health and the possibility of Israeli targeting.
