Top Lashkar Leadership Seen At Jaish Headquarters

The Indian intelligence agency suspects terror strike in the South Asian country yet again, as the top leadership of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a Pakistan-based Islamist-Jihadist militant organisation, recently visited the headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), a Deobandi-jihadist militant group of Pakistan.

During Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army targeted nine terror hideouts belonging to the LeT, JeM and Hizbul Mujahideen in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) on May 7-8, 2025. India reportedly destroyed JeM headquarters in Bahawalpur where Jaish and Lashkar terrorists gathered on December 8, 2025 for a big meeting. The Indian security forces have been on high alert since it received reports of the joint effort by the two deadly Pakistani terrorist organisations to target the neighbouring country.

The Indian intelligence agency has come to know that Saifullah Kasuri (also known as Saifullah Khalid), the Deputy Chief and the Second-in-Command of the LeT, and top Jaish commanders attended the meeting. According to sources, the Government of Pakistan has helped these terror outfits to rebuild the militant launch pad, destroyed by the Indian Army, in Rawalakot, PoK. In this context, the parties in Opposition in India have raised questions about the effectiveness of Operation Sindoor in destroying headquarters of terrorist organisations in Pakistan.

The Indian intelligence sources have also come to know that Kasuri often visits Bahawalpur to meet JeM chief Masood Azhar as the two outfits plan to launch simultaneous terror attacks in India. It may be noted that Kasuri visited Bahawalpur just before the April 22, 2025 Pahalgam terror attack to coordinate with Masood Azhar. As Bahawalpur is considered as a key centre for Pakistan-based terror outfits, such meetings there indicate strategic collaboration. Hence, there has been an increase in the activity of Pakistani terrorists to infiltrate India since September 2025. Pakistan’s Special Services Group (SSG) and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) are helping terrorists in this venture.

Historically, LeT and JeM have cooperated in terror attacks against India, including the 2001 Indian Parliament attack. The India Army targeted the headquarters of both the terror outfits while carrying out the Operation Sindoor, Reports from May 2025 suggest that top Pakistani military and civilian officials, as well as leaders from various terror groups, attended the funerals of terrorists killed in the Indian strikes, which took place at the destroyed headquarters of JeM in Bahawalpur and LeT in Muridke.

The recent meeting in Bahawalpur indicates the existing strong ties and coordinated operations between the two terror outfits.
