It’s Difficult To Trust Israel
Israel’s message of peace failed to convince the global community at the end of the first quarter of the 21st Century. Nearly 1.2 million people have been killed in Gaza since the beginning of Israel-Hamas War on October 7, 2023, while 1.9 million have become homeless. In fact, no one can blame a person if s/he refuses to welcome Israel’s peace proposal, in spite of the devastating situation in Gaza and other Palestinian territories. It has been heard that Qatar and the US have put the Israeli Cabinet under tremendous diplomatic pressure to sign a Ceasefire Accord with the Palestinian Hamas Movement.
The question arises here: Why didn’t Qatar and the US do this before? Therefore, there is no reason to believe that their effort would ensure lasting peace in Palestine. It may be noted that major players, including Qatar and the US, maintained silence when the Zionist Regime was carrying out inhuman activities in Gaza in the pretext of war against terrorism. Hence, those countries are equally responsible for the indescribable misery of thousands of innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip.

Initially, it has been decided that Hamas shall release 33 Israeli prisoners for now and the rest shall be released at a later stage. In exchange, Israel shall release 1,000 captured and imprisoned Palestinians. Tel Aviv has also agreed to allow the relief materials and humanitarian assistance to enter Gaza without which residents of the Palestinian territory could not survive. Reports suggest that the injured Palestinians may visit Egypt to receive medical treatment through the Rafah Border Crossing, the sole travel crossing of the Palestinian territory.
However, there are still some ambiguities. Israel has some obligatory policies on release of prisoners. Even if Hamas accepts those rules and regulations, a number of legal complications could be created. Experts are of the opinion that the entire ceasefire process may become more uncertain and lengthy because of the procedural ambiguities. Israel has never adopted a clear, as well as transparent, policy on the Palestinian issue, thus allowing Hamas to take full advantage of this ambiguity.

Hence, the ceasefire does not really mean the complete withdrawal of the Israeli Armed Forces from Gaza and other Palestinian territories. If the Jewish Nation plans to station its forces in Palestine, then the Palestinian groups (other than Hamas) would continue to attack the Israelis. As there are numerous extremist forces in Palestine, violence is likely to return (if Israel wants the conflict to continue). The desire for revenge is quite natural especially after so much needless loss of innocent lives. The Palestinian extremists shall also receive support from the common people in that case.
The most important issue is: Who will bear the responsibility of rebuilding the irreparable damage that has been done to Palestine? Who would have the political control of Gaza this time, too, is crucial. Israel has made clear that Hamas would not play any role in Palestine! It seems that the Donald Trump Administration in Washington DC would continue to back the Israeli atrocities in Palestinian territories in the coming days. As everything is quite uncertain, no one can be optimistic right now…
