As Israel seems to be determined to teach Iran a lesson, the Zionist Regime has started making preparations in this regard. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have already prepared a blueprint of the attack, detailing how, where and when it would be launched. Interestingly, the US helped the IDF to prepare the plan! However, documents related to the possible Israeli attack on Iran have been leaked from the War Room in Washington DC, triggering a sensation across the globe!

The New York Times (NYT) reported that two top-secret intelligence documents, containing Israel’s military preparations for the possible attack on Iran, were leaked on October 15-16, 2024. According to the US daily, those documents were leaked from the archives of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), a combat support agency within the US Department of Defence whose primary mission is collecting, analysing and distributing geospatial intelligence in support of national security! The agency reportedly prepared secret reports on Israeli military preparations and exercises based on images sent by the US spy satellites. According to the report published in the NYT, two such documents, containing images sent by the US spy satellites and explanations by defence experts, have been circulated through a pro-Iranian Telegram channel. From those documents, one can get an idea about how the IDF are preparing to attack Iran and what weapons might be used by the Israelis!

The first leaked document, titled Israel: Air Force Continues Preparations for Strike on Iran, contains a number of images of IDF Air Force exercises. It has also mentioned that the IDF emphasised on the mid-air refuelling of fighter jets during the Air Force exercises, apart from using four-five types of missiles and bombs. The IDF also stressed on search and rescue operations as there would be a possibility of retaliation, if the Islamic Republic was attacked. The IDF have predicted that Iran would launch missile attacks, in retaliation. Hence, the Jewish nation has strengthened its Air Defence System (in order to destroy the Iranian missiles in mid-air).

Meanwhile, the second document has revealed Israeli efforts to move munitions and other military assets to strategic locations! Although the second document has described Israeli military movements and exercises, it does not provide any satellite images. The US intelligence gathered from these images only suggests that the Zionist Regime is gearing up for a strike. However, it is unclear whether these documents reveal the full scope of Israel’s plans for Iran.

As expected, the US military commanders have expressed serious concern over the leak of secret documents on the IDF’s plan to attack Iran. However, they have claimed that the leaked documents do not mention anything related to the US’ defence strength. At the same time, they have admitted that the Israeli plan to attack Iran would raise tensions in West Asia. CNN has reported that the US intelligence officials started investigating the matter immediately after the incident of document leak came to light. They have already been able to confirm the authenticity of the leaked documents through a source! Those two documents were first made public under the headline Top Secret on a Telegram channel, named Middle East Spectator. Only, the Five Eyes (FVEY), an intelligence alliance between the US, the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, has access to these top-secret documents, stated CNN.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has launched an investigation on its own initiative after receiving the information about the document leak. The Pentagon, too, is conducting a separate investigation. The US intelligence officers suspect that a top official is behind the document leak! Meanwhile, the leaked documents do not mention that the IDF would launch a nuclear attack on Iran. Michael ‘Mick’ Patrick Mulroy, the former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for the Middle East, stated: “We need to put monitoring systems in place, because this could easily happen again. This will probably be the impetus for us to actually do something significant about it.” He added: “We want our allies, like Canada, to trust us with their information. And this, quite frankly, indicates that we are not doing everything we can to safeguard our information, the information that is provided by our allies and partners, which they want us to keep obviously secret.“

There is also a doubt over whether the documents were leaked or hacked. Hence, the US has decided to take additional precautionary measures against Iran’s cyber-attack. Surprisingly, neither the Pentagon nor the NGA has issued a statement on this particular issue. The Joe Biden Administration has hinted that the US officials are checking whether there is any link between the document leak and Donald Trump‘s campaign for the upcoming Presidential Elections. The US is all set to hold Presidential Elections in November 2024. While former President Trump backs Israel’s ongoing war against the Palestinian Hamas Movement, his Democrat opponent Kamala Harris has called for a ceasefire in West Asia. President Biden, when asked during his recent trip to Germany whether he was aware of Israel’s planned strike on Iran and its targets, said: “Yes!” However, he declined to elaborate.

According to sources, the IDF initially planned to attack the Iranian nuclear facilities. However, President Biden asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin ‘Bibi’ Netanyahu not to do that during their telephonic conversations. Later, the IDF decided to attack the main military bases of Iran. The US is currently helping Israel with the Thermal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD), an anti-ballistic missile defence system designed to intercept and destroy short, medium, and intermediate-range ballistic missiles in their terminal phase. Washington DC has also sent a contingent to Tel Aviv for operating this system.
