US To Kick China Out Of South America
Washington DC’s Geopolitical Manoeuvres To Kick China Out Of South America
In the early morning hours of October 10, 2025, Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra was ousted from office in a cold coup d’état disguised as a scandal over corruption and her failure to fight crime. In reality, Dina Boluarte, who took office in December 2022, had been targeted by Washington DC and London for a long time, but with a particular vengeance since the November 14, 2024 inauguration of the Chancay mega-port, which was jointly built by Peru and China. It was the first venture of a major series of Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) projects designed to bring all of South America into the infrastructure boom underway in the Global South.
The cold coup in Lima was part of an effort by international finance to drive China out of South America completely, a goal that has been repeatedly stated by officials of the Donald Trump Administration. The same motive is behind the ostensible War on Drugs, targeting Venezuela and behind the total support given by Washington DC to the Government of madman Javier Gerardo Milei, the President of Argentina.

In Peru, there is a very real problem with violence and a crime wave, which the Boluarte Government was unable to stop. It was blown up to the point of being used as the pretext for a Congressional vote ousting the President, charging her with “ongoing moral incapacity”. She was replaced by José Enrique Jerí Oré, the head of the Congress who called for new Presidential Elections in April 2026, the scheduled end of Boluarte’s term.
It is expected that the port of Chancay would be immediately targeted by the country’s international creditors. This modern infrastructure on the Pacific coast of South America has cut the transit time between Peru and China significantly, as well as the costs, as it allows ships to bypass US ports and the Panama Canal.

The proposed Bi-oceanic Railway, crossing South America from Brazil on the Atlantic to the Chancay Port on the Pacific, is also likely to be undermined. President Boluarte had met her Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on September 23, 2025 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly and they agreed to hold a bilateral meeting on how the rail project could proceed, EFE reported.
As for Argentina, where Trump’s good friend Javier Milei is a raving free-market fanatic, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has just intervened to save him by bailing out the country. The Treasury in Washington DC took the unprecedented step of purchasing an unspecified amount of Argentine pesos to avoid a complete collapse and the possible ouster of President Milei. Bessent made it perfectly clear, in an interview with Fox News on October 9, that he did so because Milei “has committed himself to getting China out of Argentina”.
