Rein On Reign Of Terror
Pakistan creates three times more terror to humanity than Syria!
No…. India has made no such claim. Oxford University and Strategic Foresight Group (SFG) recently revealed this sensational fact in their latest report, titled ‘Humanity at Risk-Global Terror Threat Indicant’ (GTTI). As per the report, the South Asian nation has become one of the most dangerous places in the world mainly because of numerous terror camps set up in the country and due to the government patronage behind it.
The report has been prepared mainly to discuss security challenges in the next decade, as it presents an analytical framework for policymakers to tackle terrorism. It also tries to understand the ‘factors’ behind the attacks on humanity across the globe. The report clearly states: “Afghan Taliban and the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) pose the maximum threat to international security and Pakistan is placed on top of the list of countries with the highest number of terrorist bases and safe havens.”
The 80-page GTTI discusses various other issues, such as how the terrorists could emerge as the greatest challenge for the world to overcome in the next decade and how to deal with them. It states: “The rise of competitive extremism of all shades, misuse of weapons of mass destruction and economic disruptions can undermine human progress or even survival in the period from now until 2030. They are all interlinked with terrorism.”
In order to understand the emergence of terrorism, the SFG has identified 200 terror groups and tried to analyse their activities in the first half decade of the 21st century. During that period, 25% of those 200 outfits motivated themselves by (their own interpretation of) ideology before carrying out terror attacks. The al-Qaeda and ISIS are perfect examples of such organisations! Although the ISIS terrorists are on the back-foot, they are still dangerous. The al-Qaeda remains the most resilient network that had been led by Osama Bin Laden until 2011. Later, his son – Hamza bin Osama bin Laden – emerged as the new leader of the group and a section of the media describes him as the “new crown prince of terror“.
The report predicts that the world will become more dangerous for humanity in the next decade due to close communication between terrorism and different countries, intelligence agencies and criminal networks. “The birth of al-Qaeda was in Pakistan and then Pakistan influenced Afghanistan. Osama bin Laden had a safe haven in a huge compound near the Pakistani military establishment in Abbottabad. The compound was much larger than the surrounding houses of retired Pakistani military officers. The occupants of the compound often bought expensive goods from a neighbourhood shop that most people in the vicinity could not afford. The presence of an important family in the compound was nothing but conspicuous,” added the report.
The report gives comprehensive details about global terror outfits operating from Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Yemen and other countries having linkages with each other. It further talks about the Jihadi movement – having survived in Pakistan and Afghanistan – is now spreading to West Asia, and North and West Africa.
We can hope that the Pakistani and Afghan authorities will take necessary actions to destroy terror camps on their soils after receiving the report….
