Structures & Their Function!
The building has been built in Xinjiang Province of China. There is a giant archway at the entrance of the building… and, a quote from Mao Zedong’s message is written at the top of the boundary wall, which reads: “We must be honest with our motives and ideology.” From the outside, it is difficult to gauge whether it is an administrative building or something else. However, the 45ft-high wall outside the 60-acre building compound, as well as the surrounding guards, indicate that the building was built for a special purpose!
A recent study by the Australian Institute for Strategic Policy and the US media reports have revealed that the building is actually a new nouvelle form of Detention Camp for the minority Uyghur Muslims. The five-storey building, inaugurated in January 2020, has a total of 13 quarters that can accommodate nearly 10,000 people. The foreign experts believe that it is basically a centre for brainwashing…

China hardly ever acknowledged the oppression of Uyghur Muslims, there. The Uyghurs form a Turkic-speaking minority ethnic group originating from and culturally affiliated with the general region of Central and East Asia. They are recognised as native to the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in Northwest China. The culture and life-style followed by them are quite different from the people of mainland China, but the Communist Party of China (CPC) has repeatedly brushed that aside. The Chinese authorities have set up many Detention Camps across Xinjiang Province for the Uyghurs. Nearly one million people are being forced to stay in those camps in inhuman condition. When the Uyghurs staged protests against this oppression in 2017-18, the Government of China brutally cracked down on the protesters. That was when the matter attracted the Global Attention. This new Detention Camp, in a way, proves that Beijing is yet to reconsider the Uyghur Policy it has adopted, even after coming under constant international pressure…

It is to be noted that Detention Camps are also there in north-eastern Indian Province of Assam. Although the Sino-Indian ties have touched a new low over the Border Dispute, New Delhi is actually replicating the actions by the CPC, terming it differently. It may be termed as ‘Internationalise a National Issue’, as the Government of India has claimed that those Camps were constructed for foreign refugees, who have illegally crossed the border from neighbouring countries. In the past, Cambodia’s Pol Pot Regime had used schools as torture chambers… Asia, it seems, follows the path of Nazi Germany!
