Witnessing Afterlife Experiences

The curiosity about an afterlife is a universal and persistent human interest, fuelled by religious beliefs, philosophical inquiries and the profound mystery of what happens after death. Many people do experience near-death experiences (NDEs), which often result in permanent and transformative changes to their perspectives, values and motivation. Jeffrey Olsen, a US citizen, recently claimed to have had an experience of the afterlife after a fatal car accident. He recently penned a book in which he has mentioned that the incident dramatically changed his life.

According to Jeffrey, he was driving home with his wife and two sons when he momentarily fell asleep at the wheel, leading to a horrific crash that claimed the lives of his wife Tamara and their 14-month-old son Griffin in 1997. Although Jeffrey and his seven-year-old son Spencer survived, the man suffered severe injuries, including a broken back and a shattered leg that had to be amputated. He also lost an arm.

Jeffrey recalled that he was 33 at the time of the accident and used to run an advertising agency. He stressed: “I was losing consciousness. I had a hysterical seven-year-old son I could not get to. I did not know how badly hurt he was, based on his crying, I believed he was okay, he was hurt, but he was going to be okay.” He added: “But my wife and youngest son were not okay and I was aware of that. I knew at the scene of the accident they had passed and that was the setting. I did not want to be morbid, but that was the setting.

Jeffrey further claimed that he had a unique experience after falling unconscious as he felt that a warm, bright and comforting light enveloped him. Then, he saw Tamara in that light and she was in perfect condition! Jeffrey described his near-death experience on the YouTube channel NDE Journey, stating: “It felt comforting. It was holding me in this horrible terrible situation and it felt like I was rising above the accident scene and I was a little bit confused. What is going on because now I could breathe, there was no pain, I was very much alive.” He added: “I suppose my spirit or soul left my body but I was very much alive. I was held in this light and then my wife, who I knew was deceased at the scene, suddenly she was there in the light with me. She was there and very much alive, beautiful, she didn’t display any of the injuries that took her life. However, she was emphatic, like, ‘Jeff, you can’t stay, you have to go, you can’t be here, you have to go back.’.

Jeffrey still shudders when he remembers the next moment at the trauma centre. He was completely devastated looking at his injured body and began to feel guilty. He spent six months in a hospital and endured 18 operations. During his stay at the hospital, he experienced pure joy at his ability to run on both legs before a hallway suddenly materialised. Upon following it, he discovered a crib containing Griffin, his 14-month-old son who perished in the accident. Jeffrey said that he scooped him into his embrace, sensed his weight and warmth, and breathed in the scent of his hair before being overwhelmed by a “cosmic powerful presence” behind him. He continued: “In all that love, all that peace and all that beauty, I kissed my little boy and I handed him over. I trusted and gave him back and then back to the hospital bed and back to the injuries and all that went on.

Jeffrey told the YouTube channel that these experiences gave him the strength to survive. He stated: “I began to see my life and I was seeing events of my life and I am in the arms of this loving divine being and I am looking at my life. I am making judgments, like, ‘that was a mistake, I didn’t mean to do that’, but in these beloved arms… there was no judgement, just pure unconditional love. You are so loved, we love you as much as that child you are holding and here, I am looking at my son.” Currently, Jeffrey lives with his son Spencer who is now married and has a child.

Meanwhile, many are reluctant to accept Jeffrey’s claim that afterlife experiences have reshaped his life. They are of the opinion that it is nothing but an illusion. Some believe that it is a strategy to sell his book.
