CIA Files Reveal UFO Attack On Soviet Soldiers
Some declassified CIA files about an alleged UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) attack on Soviet soldiers recently revealed that the aliens turned 23 soldiers of the erstwhile Soviet Union into stone during a battle in the 20th Century. According to the US intelligence service, the CIA got access to a 250-page report prepared by the KGB after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
In its report that included photos, drawings and multiple testimonials from eyewitnesses, the KGB mentioned that the Soviet soldiers were conducting a training exercise in Ukraine when the alleged UFO incident took place. During the exercise, the soldiers encountered a “low-flying spaceship in the shape of a saucer”. They immediately fired a surface-to-air missile at the UFO, causing it to crash to the ground. Thereafter, the aliens reportedly attacked the soldiers.

The report stated: “It fell to the Earth not far away, and five short humanoids with ‘large heads and large black eyes’ emerged from it.” The KGB also mentioned that two Soviet soldiers saw the five aliens merging “into a single object that acquired a spherical shape… that began to buzz and hiss sharply and then became brilliantly white.” It added: “In a few seconds, the spheres grew much bigger and exploded by flaring up with an extremely bright light. At that very instant, 23 soldiers who had watched the phenomenon turned into… stone poles! Only two soldiers who stood in the shade and were less exposed to the luminous explosion survived.”
The CIA declassified the Cold War-era document, referring to the sensational claim about Soviet soldiers being turned to stone by aliens, in the third week of April 2025. It may be noted that the claim originates from a Soviet tabloid, and is not substantiated by credible evidence. It is basically a 1993 translation of a report from the Ukrainian daily Ternopil Vechirniy according to which the petrified remains of the Soviet soldiers and the UFO debris were transferred to a secret research facility.
Meanwhile, the CIA has claimed that it merely translated and archived the article as part of its routine intelligence gathering during the Cold War, making it clear that the inclusion of the article in CIA archives does not lend credibility to the story itself. Furthermore, the report stems from a tabloid source, lacking credible evidence. The role of the CIA was limited to translating, as well as archiving, the article, and not endorsing its contents.
