China, seemingly, is constantly increasing pressure… and the threat of occupation is there, too… they may have to share the same fate as Hong Kong in the near future… hence, the concerned authorities in Taiwan stay constantly worried!

During his recent meeting with US Health Secretary Alex Azar, Foreign Minister of Taiwan Joseph Wu mentioned that China was trying to turn the democratic State into the ‘next Hong Kong’! Azar arrived in Taipei on August 9 for a three-day Diplomatic Visit. The local media reported that some Chinese fighter jets were seen hovering over the Strait of Taiwan near the Sino-Taiwan border, before Azar’s meeting with Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen.

After holding talks with top Taiwanese leaders, the US official expressed serious concern over China’s aggressive attitude towards its neighbouring countries. He also blasted the Asian Giant, for spreading the Coronavirus, stressing: “China’s ruling Communist Party had the chance to warn the world, and work with the world on battling the virus. But they chose not to, and the costs of that choice mount higher every day.“

The US had snapped Diplomatic ties with Taiwan in 1979. Washington DC had made that move in an attempt to please Beijing in a different global geopolitical landscape. However, the scenario has changed with the deterioration of Sino-US ties. China has always claimed Taiwan as its own territory! Experts believe that the Historic Taiwan visit of the US official is aimed at putting China under tremendous diplomatic pressure. During his stay in Taipei, Azar showered praises on Taiwan’s Democracy and its success in battling the Coronavirus.
